4. Farm
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra possesses 50 acres of land. The main purpose of the farm is to demonstrate the latest agricultural practices. It also acts as a tool to do applied research on agricultural Technologies & undertake trials before their transfer to farmers. After a careful planning and analysis soil types, the farm was divided in to three major blocks of Horticulture, Agronomy and Nursery unit. This was followed by planting mother plants of horticulture crops such as Mango, Guava, Amla, berries etc that are mainly grown in the district.
5. Green House
Recently the Krishi Vigyan Kendra has constructed green house naturally ventilated type to undertake floriculture.
6. Soil & water testing laboratory
This well equipped laboratory analyses soil & water samples. The laboratory is supported with computer software for more precise interpretation of results. Every soil sample is analysed for eight parameters such as pH, Electric Conductivity, Organic carbon, available nitrogen, available phosphorus, & available Potassium, Exchangeable sodium, Calcium & magnesium content.
7. Farmer's Library
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has wide collection of books on all the fields of agriculture. All these books are available to farmers for reference free of cost.
8. Plant health clinic
We have established a plant health clinic that provides farm consultancy services of all types free of cost to farmers. Farmers may visit us with their querries or write to us for the guidance. Diagnostic visits are also arranged to farmer's fields in case the problem needs further in field investigations.

More emphasis has been given on long duration self employment oriented training for school dropouts & unemployed rural youth Many participants on completion of the training have been Successfully self employed by way of establishing their own poultry, Goatery, Nursery Dairy & sericulture unit. Efforts have also been concentrated to empower the women component technically as they play a very vital role in agricultural operations.
|
2. Demonstrations
Every year Krishi Vigyan Kendra conducts several demonstrations on farmers fields on technologies released by research institutes, universities. These are mainly related to latest released varieties, methods to control pest & diseases, technologies to increase yields, agri implements to reduce drudgery of women, technologies to reduce cost of production etc.
3. Technology Assessment & Refinement
For any major problem in agriculture there are many remedies suggested by various research organizations. Through on farm testing Krishi Vigyan Kendra does comparitive studies in farmers fields to come to conclusion which of the technologies tested is more suitable to the resources available & is cost effective. This is a form of participatory study where farmers perspective is given most importance. The results of such studies can later be made available to farmers.
